Am I reading the table right, that in Bucks, there is a total cohort (ie of Y6 children living in Bucks) of 7753 and that total qualified is 1918, meaning only 24.7% are eligible for grammar? With a quarter of the cohort not sitting the test at all.
I knew that every year some children don't sit, but hadn't realised the proportion was so high. I presume that most of those who don't sit are doing so because they don't think they'll pass, which means that Bucks children actually need to be in the top quarter of ability levels to get into grammar rather than top third.
