My daughter is due to sit the 11+ next September, and we can apply both to DAO and the SW Consortium schools.
We went to see DAO and although we loved the grounds and spoke to some really engaging kids and lovely staff, we were really put off by the head. We felt she came across as very severe and unwelcoming, and her talk was just a roll call of accolades and achievements with very little about anything else the school has to offer. Of course it is an academic school but we definitely preferred the more well rounded talks given by other heads. Our daughter is very academic but she is also sensitive, introverted and somewhat anxious. We came away wondering whether the school would be a good fit for her and suspect she may do better somewhere like Parmiters or SCD which had a totally different vibe. Having said that it is very hard to get an impression from a large scale audience talk like that and there was a lot about the school we did like. Is there anyone here with children at the school or who have been there recently who can comment on their experience of the school as a whole? It's always helpful to hear from people who actually send their kids there!
